Guatemala Culinary Adventure

Total Price: $2,500 per person

Deposit: $500 per person, due by July 15, 2026, to reserve your spot. (Update this deadline if registration is reopening for the 2027 trip.)

Additional costs: Flight upgrades and travel insurance are available at an additional cost. Meals are not included unless specifically stated above or in the itinerary.

Complete Itinerary

Day 1 — Thursday, April 1

Arrival in Guatemala City

• Arrive at Guatemala City International Airport.

• Transfer to accommodations.

• Check in and enjoy time to relax.

• Dinner in Cayalá.

Day 2 — Friday, April 2

Guatemala City Walking Tour & Transfer to Cobán

Morning

• Breakfast.

• Transfer to Central Park (Parque Central).

• Guided walking tour featuring:

  • National Cathedral

  • National Palace of Culture

  • Portal del Comercio

  • Sixth Avenue (Sexta Avenida)

2:00 PM — Lunch

Afternoon

• Depart for Cobán.

• Stop in the San Martín Jilotepeque or El Rancho area, depending on the route and schedule.

• Arrive at La Casa del Escritor.

Day 3 — Saturday, April 3

Culinary Experiences at La Casa del Escritor

All food during the stay at La Casa del Escritor is included.

• Breakfast featuring traditional local foods.

• Visit to Orquigonia Orchid Reserve.

• Explore Talpetate Open Air Market.

• Traditional Caldo de Chunto experience.

• Cocktail class featuring local ingredients.

• Temazcal (Mayan steam bath) and massage.

Day 4 — Sunday, April 4

Choose Your Adventure: Semuc Champey or Cobán

Breakfast and lunch included.

Choose one of the following experiences:

Option 1: Semuc Champey

• Full-day excursion to explore the spectacular turquoise limestone pools and surrounding natural landscape.

Option 2: Local Cobán Tour

• Explore the Cobán area with a locally guided experience tailored to your interests.

6:00 PM

• Transfer to Misterio Verde Bed & Breakfast.

• Dinner at Misterio Verde.

• Prepare breakfast and a packed lunch for the following day's journey, as needed.

Day 5 — Monday, April 5

Journey to Lake Atitlán

Morning

• Breakfast at Misterio Verde.

• Collect packed lunches for the journey.

• Transfer to Lake Atitlán.

• Arrive and check in at Hotel Bambú.

Afternoon

• Explore Santiago Atitlán and experience local culture.

Evening

• Dinner overlooking the lake.

Day 6 — Tuesday, April 6

Lake Atitlán: Art, Coffee & Community

Morning

• Continue exploring Santiago Atitlán and its cultural traditions.

Midday / Afternoon

• Boat transfer to San Juan La Laguna.

• Visit local cultural and artisan highlights, including:

  • Traditional textile workshop

  • Artisan coffee producers

  • Colorful murals

  • Women's cooperatives

  • Scenic viewpoints

Enjoy an opportunity to learn about the creativity, traditions, and daily life of communities around Lake Atitlán.

Day 7 — Wednesday, April 7

Antigua Guatemala & Farewell

Morning

• Depart from Lake Atitlán.

Midday

• Stop at Hotel Atitlán for lunch and photos.

Afternoon

• Transfer to Antigua Guatemala.

• Hotel check-in, depending on individual flight schedules. An overnight stay in Antigua or Guatemala City may be arranged as needed.

Evening

• Enjoy an included farewell dinner at a selected restaurant showcasing Guatemala's regional cuisine.

Departure arrangements will depend on individual flight schedules.

• Meals: Included during the stay at La Casa del Escritor and wherever specifically noted. Other meals are at the guest's expense.

• Flights: One economy-class flight ticket is included; upgrades cost extra.

• Insurance: Travel insurance is not included and may be purchased separately.

• Schedule: Activities and transportation may be adjusted as needed to accommodate weather, local conditions, and travel logistics.
