Guatemala Culinary Adventure Tentative Itinerary

Home Base: La Casa del Escritor – Cobán
All breakfasts are provided at the Airbnb. Most classes and gatherings take place on-site.

Day 1 – Arrival & Welcome to Guatemala

Guatemala City → Cobán

  • Arrival at Guatemala City International Airport

  • Group transportation to Cobán

  • Stop along the way for a first taste of authentic Guatemalan cuisine

  • Arrival and check-in at La Casa del Escritor

  • Welcome Dinner at the Airbnb

    • Introductions to the week, chefs, and regional food traditions

  • Evening at leisure

Day 2 – Orchids, Coffee & Cocktails

Orquigonia & Coffee Tour

  • Breakfast at La Casa del Escritor

  • Morning visit to Orquigonia, a stunning orchid preserve

  • Guided coffee tour

    • Learn about cultivation, roasting, and tasting

  • Lunch included during the excursion

  • Return to the Airbnb

  • Evening Cocktail Class

    • Led by Chef Nancy

Day 3 – Adventure & Cacao

Semuc Champey & Cacao Farm

    • Learn traditional cacao processing and chocolate-making techniques

  • Return to Cobán in the evening

Day 4 – Traditional Guatemalan Cooking

Kaq’ik, Market & Medicinal Plants

  • Breakfast at the Airbnb

  • Morning activity options:

    • OR guided medicinal plant tour, exploring Mayan culinary and healing traditions

  • Hands-on cooking class at La Casa del Escritor

    • Prepare Kaq’ik, the iconic regional turkey stew

Day 5 – Cobán to Antigua
